Building spaces where people can belong.
Who we are, what we believe and how we work toward practical inclusion.
Who we are
Shared Ground Uganda is a youth-led initiative advancing disability and neurodiversity inclusion through research, education, advocacy, practical tools and community engagement. We are Uganda-rooted and internationally connected.
Our vision
A world where everyone has the space to belong. Disabled and neurodivergent people can participate, learn, communicate and contribute without changing who they are to be accepted.
Our mission
To make disability and neurodiversity inclusion more practical, evidence-informed and accessible, through research, education, professional development, advocacy, practical support tools, youth engagement, campaigns, interviews and storytelling, regional research and community collaboration.
Our approach
Research
We listen, investigate and gather evidence.
Evidence
We connect lived experience with research and documented knowledge.
Training
We turn knowledge into learning for educators, young people, caregivers and communities.
Tools
We develop practical resources for real environments.
Evaluation
We ask whether our work is helping and what needs to change.
From an idea to a growing initiative
Shared Ground Uganda began as a youth-led idea focused on creating more inclusive environments. It has grown into a platform connecting research, education, advocacy, practical tools, community engagement and youth leadership.
Our work continues to develop through collaboration with young people, educators, researchers, advocates, organizations and communities across Uganda and beyond.
